Should I get a wide snowboard?
I have a size 12 shoe and I’m looking into buying a 159 snowboard. The only thing is that I don’t know if I should get a wide board or a regular size board. By the way this is my first time buying a real snowboard, I usually rent.

Generally a size 12 shoe needs a wide board.
Wow morgann that couldn’t be more wrong if you tried. You never get a wide if you don’t need it. The only reason to get wide is to avoid toe drag when you have large feet.

/ February 19, 2011well wide boards are for doing more of the tricks, and the regular ones are for the standard just going down the slope. So if you are an experienced boarder, i would get a wide. So you can have more fun.

/ February 19, 2011You should definitely get a wide board otherwise you’ll have too much toe drag and have trouble carving. Sizes 10 or 11 are kind of on the threshold of needing a wide board but size 12 would require one, and large bindings as well.
