is a wide snowboard harder to ride than a regular?
I’m getting my first snowboard and i have a size 12 shoe. so i figured i could use a wide board. i was just wondering if a wide board is harder to ride than a regular board. i’m probably gonna go with about a 159 wide. if anybody can help me out with anything in this area, because i have absolutely no idea what i’m doing. thanks guys…

Yes, it is a little harder to ride because it takes more effort to go from on side to another (make a turn) but it is easier to ride powder because you will float better. If you ride wide for some time you will get used to it and turning wont make a difference any more.

/ February 15, 2011hey man im a snowboard instructor and work at a snowshop heres my educated opinion: a wide board offers more stability and if you have a size 12 foot im guessing you are tall and the 159 board id guess you are around 6 foot? id say go wide its great to learn on just make sure you get a stiff board with a deep edge id recommend a burton baron 160
